I just checked out my block, not sure if its a G or a 6 but its G or 6 0051. That was stamped on the driver side front of the block. On the passenger side its stamped 5.3L.
I'm not sure what year it is.
Is there a difference between the car and truck blocks? Could I tell from that?
Thanks

It looks to me like you've got a L33 5.3 liter there. I also see flat-top pistons, which reinforces that. For the L33, you need the newer style ARP head bolts, where the bigger bolts are all the same length.
I'm pretty sure that you are having difficulty because you haven't cleaned out the threads in the block. The ones I've had apart, had something similar to thread-locker in the bolt holes. To get the holes cleaned out, I took one of the old head bolts, and cross-cut the threads of it with my die grinder, to make it look like a tap. It cleans the threads up really easily.
What heads are you bolting onto that thing?

Well, thats good news. I was afraid I found a FWD 5.3. Not knowing what the difference is but was under the impression it was an L33. I'm happy Its in great condition.
AK,
You happen to have a part number for those head bolts?
I have a set of 317s that will be getting cleaned up, I'm going to polish them and see how they come out. Then I may port them.
Thanks guys, I appreciate it.
