i see that article says that they were only made from '70 to '80. So 350/383 it is.

you guys have any input on the forged "leadfoot" 383 rotating assembly that SDPC offers? what kind of abuse you think that can hold up to? think it would be stronger than the block as far as HP goes?

Honestly, I would go to a company that has the cheapest 383 forged kit. I will PM you the site and they sell Eagle and Scat products.

You can use the 400 block without any real trouble. The "retro fit" hyd. roller kits simply have a cross-bar, or a springbar between lifter pairs to keep them aligned. They're aren't really more expensive that a good hi-rpm lifter set for OE hyd. roller block. When my 355 goes out(only 1yr old), I'm yanking the 406 out of my 68 Nova and putting it in my '96 C1500. I might even turn it into a 434 stroker while I'm at it. Just get a 1/16" plate machined, and there you go, a 434ci L31 ran off a GM computer setup.

Not necessarily, the LT1 is a internal balanced engine with a 1 piece rear main. They also make kits for the 1 pc rear main and internal balanced for a 383 stroker in a 87-95 block and LT1 block.

what do you mean get a 1/16" plate machined? For the balancer?

YenkoST thanks for the link. They have awesome prices. what kind of power will there all forged kit hold up to?

does anybody know if the e-tec 200's have that steam hole already in them for the 400 block?

With a 4 bolt main, I'm sure 1000hp is very possible. The cast systems with forged pistons are holding up to 550hp with a little nitrous built right.
E-tecs are a vortec style head so you will probably have to drill them.
