I'd be happy with just a 4" or 4 1/8" bore, to leave somematerial to work with later. Anyone know how much a rotating assembly would be for that monster? It sure would be sweet to go mid quality and build a 500+ cid motor for under $6k.

Can you run the block as cast? Or does it need an intial bore or hone before building? If you left the cylinders alone, you could build a 30+ psi 402 with the short deck version. I am sure you could get away with a lot of boost with a big overbore aswell, but it would be very stable with all the meat between the cylinders in stock form.
GM may need to offer a 4L80X transmission case, that thing is going to make some power.

if i do one of those i would go with a 402 or a 408 if i can reuse the pistons i have now. no need for all those cubes when you can just turn up the boost.

generaly when building a high boost motor you are more concerned with strength than anything else. thicker walls=stronger.

i think the monster cubes with mild boost for a pump gas friendly 1000+hp set up would be doable

Super nice block... the thought process that went into that block for the modiholic, as discussed in the video, is overdue but VERY welcome none the less. The matching GM 6 bolt heads should be an awesome compliment.

You are definitely right, I guess with the amount of material they put into the cylinder walls there should be a happy medium between the bore and strength of the walls for boost to yield max power with a decent amount of reliability. In any case, I am looking forward to whatever anybody does with this thing. High boost, no boost, assloads of N20....whatever.

I am leaning towards a decent size N/A version for myself a couple years down the road.
