Have you thought about using a good old school motor oil with all the zinc and other good stuff still in it and yes 5w40 would be a good idea. Comp cams is now claiming mobile1 isn't good enough for todays more aggressive cams.

I'd agree with that considering I trashed my engine a week after switching to mobile 1 synthetic.

You sure it was the mobil 1 and not that heavy lead foot?

OP I guess upgrading to heavier duty parts, they are going to be louder than soft stock parts. Price of performance

I run royal purple and always have in this engine since the truck was new. So im not using a no name brand. Ive had a few oil analysis' done threw out the time ive owned the truck and the results always come back really good.
I tried mobil 1 in the ex mrs' daily and the viscosity came back thin!

It's pretty normal. Even stock valvetrain can be quite noisy. Thicker oil might quieten it down some but don't expect anything near stock.

I know itll never sound stock I just wanted to confirm with you guys that it sounds about right. Its easier and cheaper to get on it now then plead ignorance and beat the engine till it blows and wonder why haha

Since the 6.0 swap I've ran Rotella T 5-40 but I also live in Texas, so it's a little diff climate wise. I think Mobil 1 sucks FWIW

I don't winter drive the truck anymore, so the coldest it would see is 32'F and the hottest ambient would be high 80's low 90's
