Default turbo 408 help

im a heavy reader on this site, but a new member. aside from building a few 11-12 sec cars on some old used swap meet/junk yard parts this will be my first big budget/ high hp build.

i have a 01 ext cab wtih a 6.0/ 4l80e swap. has a cam cant think of spec's off top of my head. yank 3800 stall, shift kit, 4:30 gears with eaton posi. full bolt ons long tubes ext ext. went a best of 12.9 at 102 in the 1/4.
my goal is a 10.90 on a turbo 408 build, with some where around 900+rwhp

i have a few questions, what is a realistic hp goal to expect from a turbo 408 motor?
im aiming for 900+ rwhp on around 15psi, what would be the best turbo/cpr/ head set up to meet this goal?
i understand there are many many ways to go about building this, and n20 is not an option for me. i would also like to keep my low end tq around what the set up i have now is, due to ext cab traction problems out of the hole

any help, or guidance or things you would sugest would be greatly apreciated thanks ( i know i cant spell to save my life so bare with me lol)

turbo 408 is a great way to go, i've seen builds in the high 700's to low 800's to the wheels on about 10-15 psi, of course there's alot of factors that come into play. i.e specific internals, and supporting mods.

I know there is going to be a lot of supporting mods to do this, not just slap a turbo on and go. My main concern is what heads, compression ratio, and turbo would best get me to my goal of around 900rwhp. I've thought about going e85 but would rather keep it on 93 pump gas if possible.

I'm going in the direction of afr225 heads and twin gt70's

Pm sprayeddenali, ext cab truck with twins on a 5.3, should run 9s if he can stop breaking ****

Iron 408s have been 1000+ pretty easily.

As far as heads, get the best ones you can afford! The heads are the single biggest way to make good power. If I were doing it it again I might try for some all-pros.

CR depends on fuel...if 93 something around 9-9.5, if e85, around 10-10.5. Turbo...take your pick, but I really like the borgwarner stuff. Give Reed a call at work turbochargers and he will set you up on that end.

Im in the process of collecting all my parts to build a 408. my rotation assembly just showed up today actually. I will be running pump gas and possibly a mix of race fuel when I go higher boost for track times. I should be right around 9:8:1 comp with my piston choice and my heads. my block has been decked a bit to clean it up. If i could get E85 I would be going that route with a bit higher comp. but you can't get it here. so pump gas will have to do. Im shooting for mid 11s to high 10s possibly. but if it runs low 11s ill be super happy. sense its a heavy truck ecab silverado. but like others have said there are guys making 900+ hp on 370ci so a 408 with the right parts shouldn't be to hard for ya.

9's on a tt5.3 ecab truck? whaaaa?
now thats movin, any idea on his hp? i will more than likly be sending him a pm. thanks for the guidance.

i know the feeling of being able to find e85. we have it available right in my local 20 square mile stompin ground. but once i get out side that its pretty hit and miss. i know in my f250 driving around near chicago its like 1 in 30 gas stations you hit you might find diesel, more than once i thought i was going to be pushing...
