you can buy the Tunercat Software and have access to over 500 different things the PCM controls. It is for the 1996-06 GM trucks and f-bodies, GTO cadillacs vettes ECT. These are not VIN locked and each defenition file is only $79.00.
You download your stock PCM file, make some changes like removing Toruqe management, or shiftpionts or set your top speed limiter to 255 mpgand abot 500 more differnt things.
the only thing about Tunercat OBD2 is that it is only a reader/writer and tuner, there is o scanning function. MXScan is due out in a few weeks and will have bi-directional control and access to GM PID's,AND it WILL support a wideband O2 sensor.
with MXScan tunercat OBD2 will be a totally complete reader/writer tuner and scanner/logger.

as far as handheld tuners go.... if you are thinking about going that route, go with the diablo... its far more adjustable than the hypertech or the superchips tuner. Plus you can re-cal your speedo and change shift points in your auto tranny, and air/fuel mixture, timing and much more... I think predator diablo sport tuner is the way to go...you will see better gain on HP #'s alone.

I have a HyperTech III for my 4.8L Sierra and all it would do is allow me to change it (max is about 112 MPH). I also could only raise me rev limiter to 6100 RPMs. It sucks too because with the programmer mods I made, this truck redlines WAY TOO FAST and does the old GM SHUFFLE and SPUTTER when I quickly reach that rev limit. I was wondering about the tuner mods I keep reading about and need to ask more about that instead of my HyperTech (I think I paid too much for). If anyone out there has used the tuner mods, please let me know. I would gladly use that instead of my HyperTech.
Thanks,

hey hog,
Do these tuner programs work the same way as my HyperCrap by allowing you to revert back to OEM if you need to get some warranty work done or make additional changes once you have flashed the PCM? I take it you also need a laptop and data cable of some sort?
Thanks
