top compression ring ?

top compression ring ?
So I have a repair manual but it does'nt really say which way the 1st comp ring
should be . the inner part of the ring opposite the cyl contact face has either the upper or the lower (depending on which way they are installed) portion 45ed . I believe the 45ed side should go up . Can anyone possitively confirm this if I'm correct , and correct me if I'm not ? I appreciate You're help .
