Toooo big of a cam?

I've always said that people are missing the boat on cam shaft advertising. People don't need to know the duration, lift or LSA. They don't know how to read it or what it means anyway. Sound clips is where its at. Just put a link to a sound clip next to each cam choice you have available and let people select them that way! That is what they are really after anyway...
i like that idea!!!

You just want as much overlap within reason, so tighter the LSA the better. Your cubes being small and you not having supporting mods your not going to want crazy duration like the Texas Giant, which wouldn't even clear the pistons if you installed it.
Also being a 4.8L it will lope harder then a 5.3L with the same cam but require more tuning to tame it. Cubes will swallow up a cams size.
Something along the lines of a 214-220ish for your duration and 108-110ish for your LSA and you will have a plenty choppy sounding idle and still not loose all your low end. You will lose some off the stop TQ and throttle response but not much.
Then you have to design where you want to go with your truck performance wise, split or single patten cam. Also any cam that has lope will require tuning...

If your wanting the sound without losing a bunch of lowend and not wanting a huge annoying converter.. going to need to stay small..
an isky 212 or 215(with a small converter) on a 110or111lsa with the right exhaust would sound and work plenty good imo..

I guess I fall into the category of a buyer for sound. I am putting a LQ4 in my 94 suburban. It will never be raced, will only occasionally pull a trailer. It will mostly just be driven and if I am going to drive it, I want to to sound mean.
If I was racing it, or doing some sort of competition, I would be more focused on performance.
