Default Toooo big of a cam?

I'm looking at a cam for my 4.8 and trying to get back to my old school big block roots. I'm wanting something that has a big lope, but not sacrifice any power.

I've been looking at the TSP Texas Giant cam and the Comp Big ***** Thumpr cams. Based on what I remember from my big block days either of these cams will give me the sound I want and should provide some great sound and still maintain good power.

This end will never been boosted and the only other things I see coming for it are a new intake manifold and throttle body and possibly a little bit better flowing heads.

Trying to not put a ton of money into this baby engine as I want to swap to a big cube engine later, but I still want to get the sound/performance I want now.

Also, I know with either of these cams I'll be changing over to a dual spring setup, what else can you reccomend? Is the comp trunion upgrade worthwhile since I'm in there? What about timing chain setups?

Whats up with all the donkey dick cam love lately lol? You guys with these big trucks, need a cam that generates power low down in the RPM range. Not to mention those cams you posted will want a on the big size converter. You can get a better cam, that will still give you the lope you want, make power lower in the RPM range then either one of those. A cam with a lsa of 112 with a few deg of advance ground in would work well. IMO the duration for your set up needs to stay under the 22x mark, ruffle a 3000ish converter. Again just my op, I am not a expert.

x2 ^^^. even a cam with lsa of 110 will lope more. i would say duration in low 22x. you dont want to put a donkey dick cam and have no low end whatsoever where you will regret and be miserable. youll be wasting money but it is your money....

Ok then can some reccomend me a cam?

32" tire, 3.73 gears.

I don't mind changing torque converter. I just want the big block lope without sacrificing power.

I've got the ***** thumpr in my truck but I've got the 5.3 and a 2800 stall and 4.10's. Definitely has a lope. What does the truck look like now?

220/220 .564"/.564" 114+4

Wait, I just so happen to have one of those in stock!

But honestly, nothing bigger than that unless you plan on doing a converter. You might also look into our HT1. Good power down low with lots of lope; 214/218 .559/.562 111. 212/218 high lift would be a good choice as well.

I've always said that people are missing the boat on cam shaft advertising. People don't need to know the duration, lift or LSA. They don't know how to read it or what it means anyway. Sound clips is where its at. Just put a link to a sound clip next to each cam choice you have available and let people select them that way! That is what they are really after anyway...
