mine's in a 5.3, but yes 220 to 224. 220 feels good, just want a bit more out of it. and I want to hear it. 220 on a 114+4 is too quiet for me. made great power though, just want to get to 12's with the mods I have and without weight reduction, plus I am a big guy too, so that hurts et.

Honestly you need to post up exactly what you want... Your focusing tooo much on DCR, you need to keep all the important peices of building a cam together and understand what each one does and how it affect everything else.
General info:
.........................Varying Lobe Separation Angle.....................................
...............Tighten............................ ..............Widen
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Moves Torque to Lower RPM..............Raise Torque to Higher RPM
Increases Maximum Torque................Reduces Maximum Torque
Narrow Powerband...........................Broadens Power Band
Builds Higher Cylinder Pressure............Reduce Maximum Cylinder Pressure
Increase Chance of Engine Knock........Decrease Chance of Engine Knock
Increase Cranking Compression...........Decrease Cranking Compression
Increase Efective Compression...........Decrease Efective Compression
Idle Vacuum is Reduced....................Idle Vacuum is Increased
Idle Quality Suffers..........................Idle Quality Improves
Open Valve-Overlap Increases...........Open Valve-Overlap Decreases
Closed Valve-Overlap Increases.........Closed Valve-Overlap Decreases
Natural EGR Efect Increases..............Natural EGR Efect is Reduced
Decreases Piston-to-Valve Clerance....Increases Piston-to-Valve Clerance
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
.........................Advancing/Retarding Cam Timing................................
...............Advancing.......................... ........Retarding
*Begins Intake Event Sooner...................Delays Intake Event
*Open Intake Valve Sooner...............Opens Intake Valve Open Later
*Builds More Low-End Torque..............Builds More High-End Torque
*Decrease Piston-Intake........................Increase Piston-Intake
...Valve Clearance................................... Valve Clearance
*Increase Piston-Exhaust........................Decrease Piston-Exhaust
....Valve Clearance.....................................Valv e Clearance
Here is a general guidline on LSA, and advance... But it does not include overlap, and duration which are key points... IMO you would be best off contacting a cam guru like Patrich G or WCCH guys and tell them "EXACTLY" what your looking for and extactly what you don't like about your current setup.....
the cam i have picked out for my new heads is as follows: 220/222 .581/.581 @ 110+4 (XER lobes), this cam in my 4.8 with my new heads should have great lowend and midrange, and pull up to about 6000-6200, should be easy to tune the idle with the XER lobes too, since my new springs are duals and rated to .650 the lift should be no problem...

Eric, honestly i would look at your converter as your problem for the low ET's... You cut a 1.8 60ft compared to my 2.00, and you have 20+hp/50+tq on me but you only run a 8.57 compared to my 8.58... This tells me that your converter is not setup properly for you combination of mods... The cam you have makes great power and TQ throughtout the powerband it is just not effiecent up top.... Personally i would address your converter problem before switching out cams, but that is just me...

I also have a early shifting problem too, the cam makes power past 6300 and It shifts at 6000-6100 at the track. I have to get justin to look at that for me, i think It needs to shift around 6500 or so, then the verter should keep me in the "sweet spot" and i.e. quicker et's.
thanks for the great chart you posted, that clears up some ??'s about lsa and cam adv. I do not want to pull the cam, but just like a lot of guys on here I should have thought more into the lsa and what would get the most out of my 5.3.
I need to call richard and talk to him about the cam,he is a great guy btw.

Yep i would look into the converter... The lowend is fine, cause your cutting good 60's, however you topend stinks... Last time out I was only shifting at 6250 and i was on street tires and i went 8.7's... If a converter is setup WRONG your topend will suffer... I bet if you dynoed with the TC unlock your graph would look terrible... IMO that converter is not translating the power... You have the SST3600 not the SS3600 correct? This is why I like CircleD cause they build them to spec, Yanks from what i have seen are just off the shelf... For example I called CircleD and inquired about a 3800-4000 converter for my truck, same as Scott's, and he speced me out something different than scotts due to the less weight and TQ....
