GMC Yukon XL 5.3, stock for now. Thinking headers, 2800 stall and fresh tranny, slightly worked stock heads, and the Thunder Racing reverse split cam 227/224 .569/.563 114 LSA. I was thinking it should have good low end and mid range. An thoughts or should I try harder to find a 6.0 and run a slightly different cam with more worked over heads? Would more time spent on the heads be better? I would like mid 300s hp/tq at the wheel and a nice flat curve. Thanks

If the heads are coming off at all to get work done(or getting different heads), i probably wouldnt do one. with a stall and headwork i would think a reg single pattern or slight exhaust biased cam would work fine. also im assuming your looking for torque with that yukon and asking about a reverse split, i think that cam is on the bigger side for a 5.3 if thats what your looking for imo. a simple small cam 6.0 with some torque might be more what your looking for..
if your still interested in a rev split cam tech has got some good threads on it, im planning on going with one whenever i get around to a cam swap. but my truck is alot lighter than your yukon and i still prob wont go with that big of a cam(TR cam) as your posting..

I have a reverse split in my 5.3 that is specked quite a bit bigger than that one. like 234/228 598/588 on 114+4, it is a custom grind turbo cam, and i do have a turbo also. It has pretty bad low end power but once it gets into its power range it really hits hard. Some people really hate reverse split cams, and other people love them, i have seen a s-10 put down 1000 whp with one and a turbo, so i say they must be alright. Sorry none of this is really a help, just figured i would chime in.

I would think if you were doin a reverse split you would wanna have heads intake and all that to have the flow to take advantage of the bigger intake side?
350 horse would be easy with a 6.0 and a tr224

But would the reverse split not help with the factory intake? Seeing that it would have more time to pull air into the cylinders? Would think that with a good exhaust the intake would be the bigger restriction. Maybe I am just looking at it wrong.
