Default Suggest a cam for my 370?

I wanted to see if I could get some suggestions on a cam for my new 370 that will be going into my Sierra. Going to keep the truck naturally aspirated til probably next year and then will be re-installing my D1 Procharger kit,

Some of my specs are as follows:
TSP 370
-11cc Pistons
Ls9 gaskets
Stock 5.3 Heads
.660 dual springs
ls7 lifters

Also have a 3200 converter that will be going in as well.+

I also plan on towing my boat(~3500 lbs) and some off road toys pretty often so i want to try and maintain decent bottom end torque as well.

Thanks in advance!

I assume you will want some decent chop at idle as well?

226/236 113+4 with just shy of .600 lift on both sides.

You dont need crazy lift with stock heads. Frankly I argue you dont want it. That cam would have enough bottom end to pull a light trailer just fine but really come to life once WOT by about 3500 RPM. Boosted it will make great mid range and carry well up top.

What 3200 converter do you have? The 278's are a great budget converter, but they show their weakness as you start to make any real power. They become very inefficient and can even break on you.

I run the WS6Store high lift ASA. Very similar to the specs above but with a tighter LSA.

227/236 .600/.600 @ 110+3

It has 11.5 degrees overlap and chops pretty good at idle and pulls like a freight train up top. It's very smooth power.

Sorry to get off topic, but what power level would you suggest switching over converters? What’s the hardest your push a 278?

CircleD rates to them 500 I think.

Yup. Right in that range. AT 500 crank youre pushing it... with that power i guarantee even if the 278 holds together that the billet 258 or 245 units would be faster.

we could go with more overlap, but its all boost and blower RPM dependent.

What kind of goals are we looking at?

My goal was for ~400whp on motor and then ~600whp+ once I add the blower. I mentioned to Chris at circle d I wanted something that felt pretty much stock and only flashed high when I went WOT and the 278mm was what he suggested. Ordered it a year ago so I'm pretty sure I'm stuck with it for now. My Tahoe had a 258mm 3400 converter and really suffered a lot on driveability with not wanting to move much under ~3000 rpm and not locking up on the highway for a long time. Really wanted to avoid that again if possible with a smaller converter

That’s tune related, unless you’re talking about cold weather and it not coming up to temp fast enough to lock up.

Yea lock up is. But feeling loose isnt.

I tend to recommend tighter converters than the guys who make them. They are laser focused on your 60' times. I like to make sure we find the right mix of performance off the line and top end efficiency. In this example I would have suggested a 3000ish 258mm.

If you're gonna tow with it stay on the smaller side of cams to retain low end for the towing and it'll be better for the blower too.

I know it would suck but going to a stock converter and a PD (roots/screw type) blower would be better for what you're wanting to do with the truck.
