Yes it is a good choice power wise and cost wise. I'm pretty sure the base circle is smaller, but standard 7.4" push rods will do. I'd get the valve springs too, their only $50. I've seen a Z06 cammed 5.3 truck w/ sts make 480rwhp/tq pump gas no meth on a safer tune.

the motor is an lq9. i plan to change my lifters reason being is im getting that ticking noise and from using the search button it sounds to me that the lifters are the most common problem so im thinking ls7 lifters ls6 cam with the standard rods, springs should i get the yellow ls6?? are the stock 317 heads rockers good if not what would be a good upgrade...i have the rear mounted sts trying to get 550-600 rwhp on a lifted cc sierra.

Ideal pushrod length with the LS6 cam would probably be between 7.425 and 7.450"

Why you going with a single pat cam Jon...??

The ls6 is a good cheap up grade, yes you will want rods longer then 7.4 due the smaller BC on the cam...
