Update:

A few days ago I started to swap in the new Vinci cam. Problem is, the old cam was in the process of wiping out and I can't even get it out of the block because of some mushrooming on the lobes! This is really weird because it has been running really smooth with good oil pressure. You can imagine my heart sinking after spending so much time and money on this motor. There is some minor metal particles on the magnetic drain plug so at this point I am really hoping the stroker crank didn't get hurt.

So now I am doing a 'do over' and have made up my mind on how to proceed with the help of Tim at Scoggin Dickey, Old Mike at Whipple and Roger at Vinci Performance. All these guys know their stuff and really do understand what I am trying to accomplish. So the new plan is to go a 416 using a fresh L92 block with a 2.3L Whipple. Anything over 400 cubes really should have a 2.9L huffer to maintain boost at 6k+ rpms but would require switching over the entire front drive to an F-body configuration and a lot more $$. But we all agreed that because how I intend to use the truck, I won't be pushing those rpms.

So it was decided that the 2.3L Whipple with a 10% overdrive balancer, 10.5:1 CR and a 5,200 rpm redline is the way to go. The redline is to prevent the supercharger from over-spinning. It isn't going to be cheap but I think it will be the trick. So here are the new specs:

L92 block
L92 heads
4" stroke
4.070 bore
2.3L Whipple
52# Z06 injectors
210/222 .551 /.551 116 LSA Cam
Yella Terra 1.8 rockers
Innovators West 8" OD balancer

I will probably have to start a new thread 'Stroker Motor Build Do-Over'. Ha!

Why can't you use the 2010+ camaro jackshaft kit? The accessorie spacing is the same as the truck and the inlet is doable since it comes out in the center. You're going to need more injector, check out the LS9s. What's wrong with your current block to make you need a fresh one? I'd definitely try and get a larger blower if you can. Check into the powerbond OD pulleys for 2010 camaros, much cheaper than the IW pulley but accomplishes the same thing.

Here is an e-mail I received from Whipple on the subject:

Subject: Bigger Truck SC

Though we do (typo: should be "do not") advertize a kit for the 07+ trucks and SUV's using a larger supercharger, I have had quite a few customers install the Camaro 2.9L kit on the trucks with a few minor mods. Either changing the front drive system to 2010+ Camaro or making a bracket to shift the Alt/PS bracket to the drive side about 2" to clear the bypass valve. You will need to custom tune it though.

Okay, so with the pressure from you guys, reading some threads from guys that already did the 2.9L that kept the truck pulley configuration, I changed my order. Mike at Whipple is happy also!

Order changed: 2.9L Whipple

I think that new setup will make a mountain of torque. Good choice on the cam.

I am starting to lose my patience with Whipple. Ordered the 2.9L from Scoggin Dickey almost 5 weeks ago and it still hasn't shipped. Is Whipple out of parts or what??!!

Whipple is the benchmark by which all crappy customer service is measured. Just wait until you need tech support.
