Question Spark Plugs

Is it True with GM and Chevorlet Vehicles that Stock plugs are better? Or should I replace....Cause I have mechanics telling me not to....cause Ill lose performance...?

Most of the time there won't be any gain or loss, but it'll depend on what you use to replace them with. The stock plugs vary from year to year I believe. I just swapped mine and the stockers were NGK's. I'm not sure if they were iridiums or standard. They were in ok condition with just a little wear.

I replaced with NGK TR55 Iridium plugs. I don't expect any change in performance except maybe a little increase in fuel effeciency, but not much.

What exactly are the mechanics saying? Why a loss of power?

Fancypants sextulplet platinum plugs or whatever are of no benefit and will only wear quicker. Its a physics thing.

Correct me if I'm wrong guys.

stick with the oem wires. theres nothing wrong with them. ive never seen one claim of gained horsepower by switching plugs on the newer body trucks. when i ripped mine up i replaced them with factory plug wires when i coulda spent $10 extra for the "performance wires"

I'm a big fan of the NGK plugs. I noticed a difference, as well as others. It seems to rev faster and be a little more resposive. Some years came with NGK plugs.

Good wires are a plus and will do about the same. I noticed a BIG difference when I had my Taylor TV50 wires.

Ive seen brand new factory plugs out of a tahoe that have AC on one side and NGK on the other.

Your pretty much stock so factory plugs/wires will be just fine. Unless your plugs are fouled/damaged already, or you have high cylinder pressure, theres not gonna be much difference changing plugs or wires.

Yeah the Guy said that With the The Newer chevys they come with 100,000Mile plugs standard (Self Cleaning)....so to replace with NGK plugs is worthless....Cause its basicly the same thing....Dunno....But Yeah I might just keep stock plugs....but I bought MSD wire set today...Gonna put that on...He said that would be a good upgrade with stock plugs....Raise them to there full potentional. Have to see....

bah to 100k mile plugs, but in your 05 its not useful to replace unless you have a ton of miles.
