Edit:That second picture isnt bits of metal, it's just the pan.

Not too bad....mine looked really bad...but all the bearings in the motor looked great still....some carb cleaner will clean up oil pan....id spray some on a rag and clean up the windage tray and the pickup tube....have you done a compression test on the motor??

well if it is pulled, drop the pan and lets see if it is an 07.
you have sludge that bad the pan needs to be dropped and cleaned out.
the wheel on the crank changed around 04 - 05.
if it has the 24X reluctor wheel in it, your wallet just got raped.
that motor has been under water, or a bad head gasket for a very long time.

that looks just like the wheel on my 02 6.0 crank shaft.

Yeah but they didn't change the reluctor wheel teeth number on the "classic" series trucks as far as I know, did they?

The date code sounds about right for an 07. Just shitty oil I guess, what's the date code on the heads????

Where is the code on the heads? The etched code on the side?

The date code for the heads is under the valve covers and should be a raised cast in the center of the heads in between the pushrod holes between the two center cylinders.
