For a 6L build you dont need damn rods there are plenty of motors running stock rods that are doing just fine with 600+hp. Throw rod bolts in and call it done. If you build a 408 then well obviously you will have all forged stuff.
Im with 1 slow, just put some rod bolts and push rods for a power range of 350 - 500 NA. Any thing else is a waste of money. Turbos are more forgiving and the lower end can handle around 600 with no problem.
