Rollmaster and melling oil pump?
#1
Anyone able to run a rollmaster timing chain and a melling high volume oil pump, and get the front cover to fit? I don't see any way this **** is gonna fit. The cover behind the seal is hitting the front of the pump.

I put yellow marking grease on the back of the cover at the lip behind the seal, and on the heads of the bolts for the pump cover. The grease behind the seal left a nice ring on the pump. the grease on the bolts left nothing on the back of the cover.
I'm building my 408. Should I use an ls2 timing chain or a different pump?

I tested the stock pump, and it clears fine w/ the gasket in place.

O.K., The front engine cover has a recessed lip behind the crank seal, where the back of the seal sits against. The back side of that lip on the front cover is hitting the the front cover of the pump.
The Melling pump is fatter than a stock pump.
