The ratio is a multiplier. For example, if the max lift of the cam is 1 inch (yea right) then the max lift at the valve will be 1.5 inches if you have a 1.5 ratio rocker. Our trucks have 1.7 ratio rockers I believe and the general consensus is to leave them alone.

1.7 is stock, many people say to stick with those....I bought the Crane 1.8 gold race roller rockers and have been happy with them. My cam is rated at .551 lift (with a 1.7 rocker), but I'm getting about .583 with the 1.8 rockers.
