I would like to know why we hardly ever talk about gapless rings on these engines.

 

cost, availability, reduced ring cross section and/or different piston geometry that may (or may not) make the ring land slightly less robust

I dont actually know the answer. Nothing Ive built was gapless except a motorcycle engine. Just doesnt seem popular
