replacing rod bolt and main bolts
#1
OK guys I need some help, I am wanting to change my main Bolts (studs) and my rod bolts. I read in a forum some place that the rod bolts can be changed while engine is still in the truck. Just pull the oil pan and take out one bolt at a time and replace. is this correct?
Also I thought the mains had bolts but when I called Summit racing they said that they only have studs. I called ARP and he didn't know a hole lot but said that he thinks you can use either bolts or studs but they only make studs. So my question is has anybody ever changed their rod bolts or main studs/bolts with just droping the oil pan? can this be done?
I am also putting 1.85 rockers and springs in so I can raise my rev limiter up to around 6000 rpm.
Thanks for any input

I wouldnt touch the main bolts. I wasnt really to keen on changing the rod bolts. Unless your gonna plasti-gage after you install the higher tensile strength mains, leave them alone.
But for only 6000, you dont need ARP's my friend!

Dont need springs either I ran my 165,000 mile engine up to 6100 everyday. I blew it though but it was from teh nitrous or trash in the cylinder. I owuld go ahead and put a cam in it instead of doing the rockers. Also I WOULDNT touch the main studs at all you can mess hit up way too easy IMO. Rob bolts arent necessary unless you are oging to spin it up to 6500 or higher.
