Tools are my meth.

I contemplated trying to cut it open with shears or a razor but then I kept picturing my fingers cut and mangled.

Have you cut out the filter media and squeezed out the excess oil?

No I have not. Don't remember if I put it in the trash already or not. However I thought the filter looked pretty brand new. At first the little fuzzy filter hairs looked like shavings but its not.

I usually see a metallic glimmer in the oil for the first thousand or so miles on a fresh motor. I always do very very frequent oil changes on a Newly built engine. I did 5 on my insight motor in less then a month. That’s one thing allot of Honda guys overlook when they build new motors. That and they try to break them in easy.

That's good to know. I planned every tank of gas change the oil for the first thousand miles. I bought a load of 5w30 and the longer Wix filters.

Yeah dude nothing to worry about. The first time I changed the oil on the first motor I built I was like holy crap, couldn’t believe how nasty it was especially just after like two heat cycles worth of running. Same thing for the next two times.

Yeah the oil initially scared me but after cutting open the filter I felt better. Definitely cutting all my filters from now on. Even on the golf cart lol
