Default quick question.

had my 6.0 at a machine shop getting looked over. inside one of the walls theres a deep scratch so id have to bore the block over to make it useful. thing is i dont want to go buy a stroker kit at the moment. i have a 6.0 almost ready to go. its only lacking the crank which i can swap over. the bad block is out of a 2005 and the crankless engine is a 2002. what are the difference in the engines? i'm going to swap to ls6 2.5 heads so i dont care if those are different. pistons the same? rods? crank?

i think the crank is the same you just have to change the reluctor ring. there are differences too like knock sensor location and cam sensor location. other than that i think its the same.

Not necessary between an 05 and 02, as they share the same 24x reluctor and knock sensor location. The 05 will have the better LS2/LQ9 style rods though.

so then would it even be worth putting all the parts i bought on there. would there be a big difference in power... i know i'm better off with the other rods for more durability, but just wanna know if its worth it before getting to work.

For the trucks I believe that it started on the 07 GMT900's, but definitely not in 04...

If the 05 block which is injured has a complete rotating assy, you can either swap that over to the 02 block, or bore the 05 block (if possible) and get over sized pistons. No difference in power if they're both LQ4's with dished pistons. (05 has different rods but the pistons are the same). If one block is an LQ4 and the other is an LQ9, Then the LQ9 will have flat tops which can be more desirable in an NA application as it will yield more compression.
