Pulling truck help
#3
They have both gas and diesel pulling classes. You would never put a gas against a diesel unless it is an exhibition pull only. Just build your 6.0L to the maximum that the rules allow if you want to be competitive. Throttle response is not too key because it's not a drag race. Sled pulling all boils down to how fast you can get it moving out of the gate, and then try to keep that momentum going. I would just follow someone's 6.0 build thread and try to make the most torque and horsepower that you can within the limit of the rules. As for suspension, you may be able to run bump stop extensions, and stiffer springs, but again, it depends on your class. And upgrade your steering hardware, i.e. tie rod ends etc. because they are a known weak link and WILL break under the stresses of sled pulling. As for tires, Interco SST's seem to be the street tire of choice, and then after that a strictly pulling tire like a maxxis or equivalent.
