These engines are the best V8s out there, period!

My 5.3 i pulled with 183,000 had no grooves or scores in the cylinders and looked as clean as yours .

GM builds the best, period.

Ok heres the pics from my buddies 2000 5.3 with 130xxx miles. Dino oil, not regularly changed. Its definetely not as clean as mine (with 30K less lol), but still no carbon buildup or anything.....

His-dino oil with 130,000 miles

Mine-mobil 1 with 160,000

I can't believe he went 130K+ miles on the original fuel filter!

I went 25K once and it ran like crap and mpg went to poo.

Yeah it is always the dirty one. At least on my old motor there was a big difference between the two.

My buddy is comin over tonight so I can install some HID's on his truck, hes got a 2000 silvy w/ 5.3 and I think around 130,000K. He runs conventional oil....and doesnt change it at specified intervals.....hell I made him change his fuel filter the other day and it was the original one on the truck, shouldve seen all the **** that came out of that thing, wonder it ran at all. I migh pull his valve cover for comparison. Pics later.
i would like to see the comparison.

The drivers side is usually dirtier because of the PCV system.
