1. What are your goals for your truck?
2. How do you use your truck?
3. How much money do you want to spend?

So far, I think that you want to do some more mods to your truck. But without more information, I can't help you make any informed decisions.

1.-TOY! and maybe, weekend/drag only later down the line.
2.-Daily driver but really dont care about gas milage or ease of driving what so ever. Just want the power. my longest trips I make are 15miles max, maybe a 60 mile trip once every 2 months
3.-hints the name Budget build I don't want to have to do any machine work.

Geeze, I really like your truck! Thats gotta be a good 2" lower than mine and a hell of allot cleaner, what do you plan on swapping the motor for? I am thinking about doing a 454 swap on mine, but I am not quite sure, I pretty much am in the same situation as you, I don't really want to spend to much time or money on machine work I am just doing little things as I go. Keep up the good work

THanks for the complement !
It's a 5/7 drop.

My truck used to sit like you signature photochop when i cut the springs before I installed the drop coils. Yes, driving was very fun dodging every lil thing. And that's why I dont have an airdam....or much of one.

later on I plan on doing either a 383 or 385 stroker. 385 is a 383 bored .040 instead of .030....just to be different. Bump the compression up to 11."something":1 when I do that, all forged parts. Long way down the road. It'll be built to where it has to have a cage lol. that's my dream. Cage, and 5 point seats. Still be street legal though. I've got all that stuff planned out.

WAYSSSSS away though.

This cam swap, and gasket change (for a lil more compression) is just temporary.

That's going to be a pain to tune for but doable. It will take a lot of tries to get the tune right. You might even need a vacuum res. for the brakes. Good luck with it. Should sound great. My current 383 has a 218/224 and my next 383 will have a 230/236.

The biggest problem on our trucks being the intake. I have spoken to a few people that will take a Edelbrock intake for carb vortecs and open it up for the tb and add fuel injectors external, but then you need an additional computer to run the aftermarket fuel system. I am not a fan of 1 off intakes, but it is lookiing like the only way to go right now other than the marine intake. but I want to see one of those in action first.

2nd intake from teh top, http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_...fi_chevy.shtml

the Vortec black box PCM will drive ANY high impedance fuel injector. I am using EV6 injectors on my marine intake right now. You dont need an extra PCM to drive the ijectors, teh stock PCM with tuning will do fine.

That cam will be more difficlut to tune with a 107°LSA.

New marine crossram intakes can be had for $850 including, fuel rails, t-body and upper and lower plenums.

You are not going to see the full power of that cam with the stock intake and pcm. Mainly the intake. If you are still using the black pcm then your rev limiter will be at 5800 max. But as far as intakes go you can go with a carb stile and make it work or you can use the marine intake, ot the ramjet intake but the ramjet takes some machining.

Yeah I know I wont get the full potential but I want every lil bit I can

Hog-
I replied to your post over on FSC.
But, incase you check it here first...

Hog-
I've been reading tons of your write ups everywhere there's a lot.... lol. I would love to do a ramjet or marine intake. However those are very pricey and no way I would be able to afford that and the cam parts etc... I'm so confused on what I want to do right now it's not even funny. I even thought about going carbed. The problem there is that the wireing harness for the 4L60E to work on a carbed motor is also 500$. I know nothing is cheap. I just wish the prices were more similar to old school carb motors with th350's/400's. ALSO, why the 26918 beehives? and which ones of that PN do I want? Summit list different diameters.

I'll call Comp Cams again tomorrow and see what they say. From what I have been reading though the cam I listed in the beginning is extreme numbers that seem wayyy to large. However, from what I have been reading up the way Comp designed it was the LCA,LSA,Lift, and Duration are engineered in a way that really doesn't give you the harsh charactoristics of a monstrous cam. Just the sound. The sound to me is just a bonus, I'de rather have power first.
Update-
Well I called comp after I decided Not to run the Thumpr cam, Dude was a total Jerk! but, still gave me a PN for a cam to consider.

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=CCA-08-306-8

Duration at 050 inch Lift: 230 int./244 exh.
0.510 int./0.540 exh. lift
With a Lobe sep of 112.

Nelsons Performance called back when I asked if they could tune the Thumpr cam and I gave them the specs. Said, " we'll tune it up real nice." So they seem confident they can do it and it's only an hour drive...
