well I see some of the guys are doin 6.0 swaps.. and alot already have. Now just out of complete curiosity and boredom I wanna know: would it be possible 2 take out my 4.8 find a 6.0 in a pick & pull, and just slam it in in about a weekend? no new harness no welding for mounts or anything? And obviously theres gonna be a huge difference between 300 (roughly) horse and like 380ish? (right?) but would it really be that worth it? gas mileage worse (much or little) would it be worth it to snag 1 and just do a cam and leave my motor alone? Just wanna know something thats gonna really put some wind in my skirt so anything from personal experience or opinion would be great. Thanks fellas

your trans probably wont last long... also you would need a tune for a 6.0 because i imagine a 4.8 uses just a little different of a tune

another thing to think about, your rearend won't like the 6.0 lol. Also, the stocker 4.8 might push 220 to the wheels if you're lucky. The 6.0 might put you at 300'ish possibly.
If you do the 6.0 and you're wanting to eventually do a cam or a torque converter or something it's so easy to do it while you do the swap. Here's a list of mods to think about doing when you do the swap:
longtube headers
cold air intake (ie K&N or AEM)
cam
torque converter
160* thermostat
heavy duty trans cooler
maybe some other goodies too.

my first motor swap was on my truck. started at about 10am and was finished by 9pm with help from a buddy. that was also putting the ls1 shortblock together (heads, and everything that bolts on down below). hell basic tools is all you need. dropped 6/10 in the quarter swapping a stock 5.3 to a stock LS1.

ive been contemplating the 5.3 to 6.0l also..but wonder about the ecm, and harness..its all able to stay? the 5.3 ecm can simply be programmed for the 6.0l? If thats the case, this will be a pretty simple swap.
