What is the max CR you would run in a DD that has a manual transmission and will see weather of ALL types.

Would you run 11.6:1?

No more then low 11s if it was me. Only time I had any problems with 11.3:1(think thats what my 418 was) was when Id get a bad tank of 93 and dead summer heat of Texas, it would ping a little under a decent load and get some knock at WOT. If you really want to be able to drive it in ANY condition then Id go a bit lower. Up in NY though I seriously doubt you'd get the heat/humidity we get here so you may be fine with 11.6:1, and it was fine during normal driving I just couldnt play around too much til I topped it off with some more 93. This was in a heavy truck so it may not be nearly as bad in your toy.

Depends on the cam. DCR is what you want to focus on, not SCR.

+2... From what i have read 8.25 is good for stock headed engines, 8.25+ heat starts to develop in the combustion chamber which might/would limit the amount of timing you could run.. 8.25-8.75 is good for a nicely ported set of heads, focusing on the combustion chamber... LS motors might be a little bit better due to the flow of the heads in stock form...

That is just what i read... my setup is 10.35, my new forged 5.7 will be 10.8-9ish..
