No point in going with big lift on stockish heads. .600 lift is more than adequate.

well after the cam or either with the cam im going to get some 243's or texas-speed's 2.5 heads. i may get the cam first and then get heads later, or if i can find a set of 243's for a good price i may pick them up too. i've read theyre proven , but cant always believe what you read thats why i posted asked first before i spend money.

specs on 2.5's are 2.02" Intake Valves, 1.575" Exhaust Valves, cant remember on the 243's. last cam i bought i didnt install cause my tuner said it didnt have much lift, it was a 226/229, .569/.572, 112 LSA

i'm only wanting to go with around a 3200 stall also so not sure about how well it would work with the high lift

stalls have more to do with duration than lift I believe. That cam you have there has quite a bit of duration for a 5.3 and I would think you would want to go bigger than a 3200 stall. That looks like a pretty good cam for a 6.0 IMO. There are plenty of cams with around .600 lift so that is not too uncommon. Every one of EPS's truck torque cams have around a .600 lift. In short I would be worried about the duration more than the lift.

i believe that less is more when it comes to cams , i would say for a 5.3 a
217/223 or around that duration on a 600 lift is more then enough ! just my 2cents , but iam no expert!

Exactly !!
I run a small cam 212/218 with 529 lift
my truck will run with the best of them even if they have more camshaft

You sir are correct, as the duration increases, the powerband moves up. A cam that big in a 5.3 is going to need a ton of converter and gear...I'd say a 4k plus converter, 4.56's or more, and extensive tuning. We have members here who run 12's with a 5.3 and a TR220, 4.10 gears, 3200ish converter (IIRC), and stock heads. As 1slowz71 mentioned, sometimes less is more

BlueCajun ran a 12.48 I think it was with a TR220 and a Yank SS3600. For a 3200-ish stall I'd run a low duration high lift cam made for torque, for the cam you listed I'd run at least a 4000 although personally I'd run more.

I'm gonna go with the bigger brother of his cam, the 216/220 .. since I'm in a reg cab, I should have a really similar result as him

I'm also going with milled 243's which should help a little bit too, along with LT's
