Default Oil Cooler; Yay or Nay?

Currently not setup for an oil cooler factory or otherwise but my new motor came with the adapter above the oil filter and lines for the factory cooler. Is it worth it as far as durability. It's not a max-effort build but I do want durability. I do drive the truck pretty hard but try not to abuse it.

Not worth it to me, I'd rather not have a cooler but my truck came with one.

Just another spot to leak from someday.

having one wont hurt but without, just change the oil at the appropriate interval and it will be fine.

Every little bit helps and cooler oil helps the cooling system also. I say if you wanna install one go for it if not it won't hurt either, hell most vehicles prior to 95 didn't have oil coolers

I'll echo what was said above. My truck came with one and I am happy it did. I also view it as something that could potentially leak down the line... but I'm not super concerned about that.

I wouldn't lose sleep not having one, but if it can be done cheap enough I think I would probably want it. If you had a turbo I think we could all agree you would be better served to have one.

Oil temp dictates the necessity for an oil cooler.

Consider where one lives when reading their advice. I do believe in the KISS method as long as it is effective.

If you have or plan on having a turbo I would highly recommend it.

Thanks for the replies, guys! I didn't think one would benefit me in my climate anyway. Besides the fact that I don't need to add more places for leaks to occur, I'd rather use the limited space between the grille and condenser for a bigger or 2nd HEX.

Here is how I would address this particular question. If you have most of the parts to add an oil cooler, there obviously isn't a reason not to run one.......however, I would skip the cooler that is built into the radiator and just implement it's own cooler. Know what I'm saying?
