Default noisy valvetrain new motor

ok guys got my iron ls1 running with about 400 total miles on it now and it was amazingly quite running til now, (if it wasnt for the engine fan and exhaust you wouldnt know it was running)

coming home today from work when i got out of the truck to check the mail i can now hear a faint tick. not a real rapid tick either, so i popped the hood and went through some low rpm cycles, it gets faster with rpm but not any louder. sounds to me like a rocker arm?

engine has harland sharp 1.7 rollers with chromoly pushrods and patriot gold springs, bumped off a comp 54 408 grind (206*/212* .515/.522 lift on a 112* lsa)

SO THE QUESTION IS< is this just break in or is something puking on me? how loud is your valvetrain? im going to plan on running it and watch it closely for it to get louder pending your guys responses...

Didi you clearance the valve covers for the HS rockers? If you did not then thay are hitting the oil baffles on the valve covers.

oil baffles removed for good cleaning and powdercoat.... left them off for final assembly.

Remember that each set of rockers you do make sure that the cylinder is at TDC for proper TQ to the rocker bolts. Yes 22 f lbs with lock tite

I didn't have to remove the baffles in my valve covers for my 1.7 HS rockers, but I did need to clearance the head on the pushrod side of the rockers...

FWIW, my valvetrain is noisy as hell, always has been. It ticks like crazy and everything's tight. Recheck the rockers as mentioned (22 lb/ft is correct), and if they're OK you're probably good to go

the fact that it just recently got loud would alarm me.

had it done it all along I would assume its the valve springs or something but not if it just started.

well 700 miles on her now and was sitting at an idle and the engine died randomly... fired it back up and sounded like a bag of marbles rolling down a metal stair case, with a loud constant squeek.... towed it home and started breaking stuff down to pull the motor, i think its a dry or spun bearing...

oil came out clean..

ill post pics of what i find
