Default New guy swapped 5.3 help

Hey guys, im looking to buy a used 5.3 for a swap into an older Chevy. I have a few issues thought that im hoping you can help me out with.

1. I want the carb look without the hassles of a carb. I was looking into the EZ-EFI but it seems to have its own host of problems and most say stay with stock efi.

2.The truck will be 2wd and wont be used for hauling so i would like it to be more towards the faster side instead of a torque monster. I want to drop a cam in it but have no idea if the EZ-EFI setup should reflect on the specs of the cam.

Any help will be greatly appreciated ! Ive been around my LS1 for awhile now but ive never messed with the 5.3 and just need some advice. Thanks guys

The stock efi would be the cheapest by far. For a carbed intake and a carb looking efi is gonna be close to 2500. A custom harness and mail order tune can be had for 800 or a 1000 for a dyno tune and harness. So really its all in how much you want to spend.

Why not just do a carb with a MSD 6LS?

To be honest the i was orginially wanting to do the carb but after reading about cold starts and pumping the gas, it turned me away. How do you tune for a cam when carbed ?

Play with the jetting and ign timming. Just leave the stock efi, carbs have no place on these motors.
