Default need some honest opinions on intake swap

so ive been lookin around at different intake mani's since my front seal looks a little moist...theres a couple things id like to take care of on my spring break...intake being one of them...thing is ive heard two totally different sides for intake swaps...as in truck intakes good until the 500 horse mark...then again ive heard otherwise...right now i have the basic boltons, LT's ORY, shift kit, blackbear tune, 4" cai, exhaust etc etc...im still lookin for some more power outta this thing even though i gotta give justin props...never could expect such a gain from a tune! amazing...anyways i was lookin into the edelbrock pro-flo xt intake...i know its pretty much a tunnel ram intake, but i wanted your honest opinons...ill be going with an agressive gear, either a 4.56 or 4.88 on 35s eventully (33's for now), thing is with the tunnel ram i know ya loose some low end grunt but gain top end...just wondering if any of yall had an idea if id be alright with the low *** gears ill be running...i was going to do a TR220 cam swap and yank3300 stall but right now for what the trucks goals are, i dont think thatll be the best for it...if any of yall have any opinions please let me know

thanks in advance

tj

Take a look at the "sticky" for Internal Engine Modificaitons on Intakes https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=397720. Study this thread and any referenced threads.

The edelbrock intake is a complete turd. It might be great for a 7000+ motor but you will lose power across the entire band on a stock engine. Converter would help as much as the tune probably, most people see 5 tenths or so with a good converter swap.

thats the thing im unsure of...original plan was still do yank 3300 tr220 cam and 4.56s or 488s on 35s...but i dont think a high stall would be good for trails ya know? not to mention all the added heat...as much as id like to have a nice sized truck thatll still rip...i know ill be throwing money around like crazy...thats what im tryin to decide...make the truck fast or straight mud truck...or just use the nova for going fast...id like both outta the truck but with my funds right now i dont think thatll happen

I know all these guys have different opinions, but you seem to be more into off-roading eith your truck... so i would agree with you on the stall on the trails not so optimum, and to me the TR220 is an awesome cam, but some other cams may provide more torque for those 35's even with the low gears. And as the other fella said... Edelbrock intake is a big NO lol.

Unless your going to be running 6000 + RPM's on a regular basis, the truck intake will be just fine. Also, if your engine is a 4.8, your definately gonna need a converter and steep gears to turn 35's with a cammed 4.8.
