Need help with my beetle
#1
well when me an my wife now, then girl friend about two months ago ran away
they took her car (beetle) away and the dum *** off my mother in law drove the beetle in to a big puddle of water in Mission so the poor car got flouded and she just got off an left it there for about an hour, so my QUESTION IS WHAT COULD HAPPEN IF WATER GOES IN TO THE ENGINE ? now that i got the car in my hands it turns on but as soon as it does the rpms start going lower and lower untill it shuts off and i have to jump start it again anyone know anything about beetles i want to get it going cus it is cheep on gas.
ps how do you change the spark plugs on a 2.0 beetle

worst case hydo lock, a little surface rust if it sets with water. But if it is not hydro locked you have a good chance of getting it running alot cheaper and easier. First thing would be to try and get out the water pull plug and turn it over will get some out and some will go out thru the exhaust. Not sure on the plugs tho never looked under the hood of one.

run some new oil thru it... drain it... run more new oil, then keep doing so, and hope the bearings dont have any scale buildup or you could spin them or score the crank, or any other moving part in the engine

if i rememebr correctly the beetle the alternator is at the bottom....
so that cold have gottten wet, and also depending on how deep the puddle you could have gotten possible water in the case or maybe just some sensors wet and screwed em up
