What your goals with the setup?

Do you want to retain stock-ish like drive ability?

Stay with the stock torque converter?

I will note this here as well, you will need larger fuel injectors to make sure you have enough head room with fuel on a cam swap. The stock 25lb/hr injectors more often than not are barely big enough for an engine with minor bolt on's before a cam. Consider going to 31lb/hr injectors from a 8.1L engine.

Consider a cam in the 212/218 range. Maybe even slightly larger to up around 212-214/220-224 range or so. The larger you go the more a higher stall torque converter is wanted.

Something like this will be a mild cam that should still get a decent power bump while driving remains very tame.

IF I do get a bigger cam do you think all run into any ptv issues with the .30 mill?

Not unless you go with something crazy stupid big.

I don't know the exact measurements for all cylinder heads but milling those 317's kinda put them in the same ballpark as 243/799's and you can run a decent sized cam with those and not run into valve clearance issues.

Not gonna know until the heads are installed and measured but most people are able to get away with a 7.400". Springs, if you're not going cray with lift, the LS6 blue springs are like $65 and don't bind until around .570" lift.

How about rollers do I keep the stock ones or do they need to be swaped?

Stock rockers work with everything.

Some do the trunion upgrade though.
