Default need help choosing cam for 5.3

whats up guys, just a quick question, im ready to finally cam out my truck but just need help on choosing the right one. i have a 2012 crew cab sierra 5.3, so far just have headers, gears, cai. Mpg is not something im worried about since its only a weekend truck.
Looking for something to make good power.
What cams are you guys running in a 5.3 that makes decent power?
i was looking at maybe a 228/228 cam.
Thanks guys.

That cam is too big for a 5.3 CC. I would stay in the lower 220 range if it were mine. And you will defiantly need a torque converter

Agree with 04Hall, 228 is too big for a CC unless you have a huge converter and want no bottom end.... Look into the Brian Tooley truck cams...or anything under 224.. i have the stage 3, it would probably be better on a tighter LSA (its a 114) but i plan on a TVS1900.

a good cam for the 5.3 that will give you decent power without getting a converter would be a 212/218 with some ls6 spring that's what I have in my 4.8 it does pretty good and doesn't sound half bad. just a thought you may want bigger..

I called a local shop were I live to get a cam speced out and with a 3200 stall a 231/236 112. I already ordered the dod/vvt delete kit from tsp.
I'll look into the Brian tooley cams

Yea... not that its a bad cam... but that ****** is huge for what you want. It'll be soft as a grape down low with all your weight.

Exactly what vortec350ss said, yeah you can put a 230s cam in a 5.3, a 4k plus converter, and some 4.56s lol and it would probably run ok... but im not driving around a turd all day until im ready to go wot... WAYYYYYYYY too many people overcam these heavy *** trucks with a small 325ci engine!

Have to say I don't like white trucks but your truck is sweet.
