Sometimes it its worth paying the pros like WCCH to do the work for you. Cuts out the guess work and margin for error.

Richard has been there, done that....and more than likely has a collection of t-shirts.

Thanks for the input guys but I think that my point is being missed here. I am trying to get this motor together for use with a turbo. Since the turbo will yield the highest power gains I am allocating a large portion of my budget toward this. I will be running the engine for a while with stock rods pistons and heads until I can bore the motor out to 346ci and upgrade the rods pistons and heads to better pieces like the all pro heads with the extra head bolt holes which I believe have thicker decks also. Right Richard? I assure you understand the "get what you pay for" clause quite well. My goal here is to avoid putting a box stock set of heads back on my motor and leave power on the table if there are any ways to improve them that are cost efficient. At this point I assume the opinion here is that if I dont have $1100-$3000 for a pair of heads now I should just use the ones I have as is.

Yes, the All Pro heads do have a thick deck for extra head gasket support. In light of your near term and long term goals it's best to have a machine shop reseat the valves on your stock heads. Any port work in the transition from the seat throat to the valve bowls will help. It's not worth much to grind and polish further out from the seats.

Good luck with your turbo project.

Richard

Cool. Thanks again for the input. BTW You have brought to market a truly impressive product for the gen III community and I hope to someday own a pair.
