Default n/a 6.0 build questions

Ok first things first i got a 01 ecsb silverado and its going to be a daily driver...i dont really care about gas milleage, soooo i wanted to turbo the 5.3 but then i wanted to spray it, now i just want to get a 6.0 and spray it.

well ive found a fair mileage 6.0 (not sure if its lq4 or lq9) complete engine minus flexplate and accesorys for 1200, i want to build it strong and reliable. Ive done a bunch of searching and reading and im mixed between going to a 370 or 408 or stock?
Also looking at heads...what would you guys run? prc stage 2.5 5.3L's? or ls6's? or any others?
And then for the cam id like to have a custom specd one. also i plan on spraying a 150+ shot wet kit...any thing else i should look into?

long story short....how would you build a stout streetable 6.0 with no plans to boost just spray? any suggestions appreciated

Thanks,
Caleb D.

If LQ4, I would use the prc 5.3 heads. If LQ9, I would use the 243s (ls6). Both will yield close to 11:1 compression.

The LS2 in comparative terms is an LQ9 with 243 heads. It has 10.9:1 compression and its OEM and its offered in TBSS's. It'll be streetable with 93 Octane....

My understanding of nitrous is that it responds well to compression. Hopefully someone else will chime in to confirm.

I'd go with the PRC 5.3 stage 2.5's and a custom grind cam. If you haven't bought headers yet I'd go for some 1 7/8" American Racing headers.

So your saying if i get a LQ4 i should get the 5.3 stage 2.5's? And if LQ9 get the LS6 stage 2.5's? Being both will be bout 11.1 compression? I run premium anyway so thats no prob with detonation. Thanks for the info...keep suggestions coming...after i sell my blazer i will be building the motor to swap in for my 5.3.

I would do the 5.3L heads either way. If you have an LQ9 to start with your compression would still be i usable range. You could have them open the chambers up some for more flow and a clean chamber to allow for more timing. We did an LS6 at work with those heads with the chambers cleaned up and they measured in at 67cc un-milled. That same set with a little milling would get you close to the 11:1 which with TR6's make for a nice street 6.0L running on 91 (or higher) octane. If you have an LQ4 and get the 5.3L's don't have them open the chambers up, just put in the bigger valves. You'll lose a touch of flow, but gain in the compression. That LS6 made 451RWHP as an example with those heads and it now has a 4" stroke (383) and with those same heads made something like 487RWHP.

I'd agree with the Trick Flow or AFR thing, if you can hack the price they are worth it. It is tough to beat the price of the TSP heads though. As for cam, what are the specific's.
