One shop I talked to awhile ago said the motor swap booked about 18 hours labor. S/C install should be 6-8 hours, tranny maybe 5-6, tune varies a lot, e-fans should be 1-2 hours. Estimate 80-100/hr for labor, and you're looking probably somewhere between $2500 to 3500 in labor alone. I'd recommend finding someone to help you do it yourself locally.

If youve got the time, and are willing to learn it, you can save the money for labor, and have plenty enough to buy the tools.
When you buy tools and DIY, you not only get the job done for cheaper, you get to keep the tools.

heh-heh...wish I had the time cause then I wud DIY. Shop I've been working with to build the motor, that did my blower, brakes, sways...etc on my 5.3L wants me to pay $3500 for the install of motor & blower, then pay another guy to do the tranny, and another guy for tuning...as I see it I'll end up closer to $5g's...I guess its not crazy, but install shud include the whole package for $3500 IMO.

There is no way in hell i would pay that much for the labor on it, IMO they see you spending all that cash on the motor, tranny, blower, etc and think that they can make some extra cash off you. I would find a couple of buddies to help you out when you can get a couple of days off to do it yourself, or even pay someone $1000 or so to do it for you in their backyard. There are a ton of backyard mechanics out there that are just as good as any shop and need some extra money.

A motor swap, blower install, and tranny swap is 2-3 days work tops. Hell the motor could be swapped in a day and the tranny would be done before lunch on day 2. If you were closer I'd help ya for beer and pizza.
