modifying head gaskets
#1
my budget got narrowed up due to the wifes camry losing a rod bearing... fun..
was going to buy 243s, port, and mill them... funds wont allow anymore.. back to my point.
Ive seen guys use steel shims w/ copperspray as headgaskets and last forever on older engines... also noticed the shim in my 5.3 HO headgaskets was .030" lol about that amount id like to take off my 862s since im having to reuse them...
question is if i drill the rivets out, chunk the shims, and give the two outer layers 2-3 coats of copperspray what are my chances of this working?? Anyone tried it, any opinions.
If you havent tried and are just guessing then dont come tell me im stupid for considering it unless youve got some proof. I want opinions not critisizism
