Default Mild Build.. More like fixing weak points..

So I'm looking to pick up an lq4 here shortly and when i tear it down to go threw it and clean it up, i figured i might as well fix any weak points they might have. A fully built one isn't in the budget yet, but for now I'd like to have some more power..

So does anyone happen to know the weak point of these? I was thinking maybe rod bolts or something along those lines? What all should i change that wont cost me a huge amount.

Im also going to be putting a cam into it before i put it in the truck
..around a 222/224 112 or 114lsa and if possible money wise a set of stage 2 wcch heads...

and id also have a bottle for the track running somwhere around a 75 to 125 wet shot on it.

i know they are pretty stout engines, but they've gotta have a factory weak point to em somewhere.

If you can swing it, I'd ditch the pistons too. What year is the block?

Sounds like a waste of time and effort to tear down the short block just to change the rod bolts when a new set of heads and a mild cam with a 125 wet shot is nothing to these LSx motors, so I'd leave it. Either build it up completely or leave it alone, it's that simple. Since you don't have the money to do it the right way now, that makes the decision for you.
