Default MERGED: how much power will.stock lq9 rods hold with arp bolts and good pistons

Im building a lq9 and putting a 70mm on it. And was wondering how much power stock rods will hold. This is in a ws-6 trans am and it will be mostly street some strip looking.g to push 650. To 700 rwhp with Meth.

With that size turbo, I probably wouldn't worry about it. Your likely to run out of air well before those internals give.

It have heard guys are putting 800 on a stock rotating assembly, but I would recommend changing out the bottom end. I am not sure the exact rating on stock rods.

Agreed, its been done but that doesn't make it a good idea! For inexpensive "insurance" I'd go with a set of Callies Compstar rods and some Wiseco pistons. I can get you into rods and pistons, including a steel top/napeir 2nd ring set, for about $1300. The rods are rated to 900hp with the ARP2000 bolts they come assembled with (conservative IMO, we've pushed them quite a bit farther than that!), and the 2618 forging pistons with that ring set will hold the power you're looking to push and then some!

Let us know if we can help

Cablebandit was at 750 rwhp for about 2 1/2 years with stock rods.

If your tune is dead on it will live, but one false move and it's game over for the rotating assembly.

i heard most rods give to rpm, not so much the cylinder pressure from high hp.
