Default LY2 4.8L cam - 1 bolt or 3 bolt?

Hey guys
Bought a LY2 (gen 4, 2008 Silverado) 4.8L engine as a basis for my turbo project and picking up a new cam from Jarret on this site. Trying to figure out if I need to convert to a 3-bolt cam configuration, unfortunately my engine is in a freight forwarding warehouse on the other side of the world (I live in New Zealand) so cant just go and take a look... Realise the Gen 4 motors are supposed to be single bolt cams but given the LY2 has cathedral heads and no AFM/VVT thought Id better ask the pros before I go spend money on parts I might not need...

Thanks in advance!

I would think that because it's a GEN 4 with a 58x/4x that it's still a single bolt. I know for sure the 5.3 are but I guess I haven't seen a 4.8 opened.

OK, I will assume its a single bolt cam so will buy the 3 bolt cam gear and tensioner since its not that much $$$.

Second question, I assume I dont have to go messing with the timing gear (ie on crank) since I wont be changing from the 58x wheel and sensor setup? Put another way, are the three and one bolt cam gears otherwise identical (same diameter, number of teeth, same chain etc) so rest of timing components remain the same, and just changing the way cam is driven? Will be running a standalone ECU so no worries on compatibility there

Matt

Right, the gear on the crank can stay the exact same. Just need a 3 bolt cam gear with the 4x trigger on it to match the factory one. The number of teeth are the same for each cam gear.
