Lunati black magic cams
#1
Was researching the new lunati black magic cam series. Wondering if anyone has some comment on them. Looks budget friendly. Here is their stage 3 cam which is the truck cam.
Installed in a stock 5.7 LS1, this cam was good for over 370 RWHP. Designed for the truck owners with top end power in mind, a 3000-3200 RPM torque converter is required to ensure good idle and drivability characteristics. Advertised Duration IN/EX: 276/285; Duration @ .050" IN/EX 224/230; Valve Lift IN/EX: .553"/.547"; LSA/ICL: 111/109
Sales pitch : Lunati's Black Magic series offers incredible power at a great price that won't break the bank. These proven lobe designs ensure reliability while still making great power and sound. Lunati's in-house all black surface finish adds durability, hardness and surface area to the cams, as well as a unique and awesome look. The finish remains intact after initial break-in and aids in identifying the "surface ride" area of the cam while the cam "stages" simplify the selection process for your specific performance goals. Black Magic Camshafts are an excellent choice for a wide range of GM LS performance applications. Only "black magic" can provide this kind of power at this price.

What are you wanting to put this in and what is your goal with it???
I believe this line of cams is fairly new to the market.
FWIW, You can get a texas speed low lift cam for $299

I was just curious what people thought. I’m thinking of getting the Summit Stage 4 (8714) with supporting springs. Setup is:
06 single cab stepside. Weight a little over 4000 lbs
6.0 with 706 heads SCR a tad over 10.5:1
long tube headers
3000-3200 stall
4.10 posi trutrack
not a daily driver, just a get in trouble on the weekend truck.

Very close to the SS2.
Between the Summit 8714... I'd pick the Sloppy for the extra (.585") lift and better price. The extra in savings with the SS2 could go toward a set of PAC-1218 .600" springs and be right at the same cost of the 8714 cam & LS6 springs.
