Default LS7 lifters

I have turbo 5.3 with 150k and I need to replace my stock lifter. They had started tapping so loud that I can hear them when I’m driving on the freeway, but my problem is doesn't do it unless it's a long drive or beat on the truck. I've check all the rockers and pushrods and they are good. I'm wanted to replace them with ls7 lifter. Will my harden 7.4 push rods still work with ls7 lifter. I hear that some people on ls1tech had to go to smaller push rods when running these. What head gasket are you guy's using in replacement of the stock one. Will need to have the heads milled before re-installing them?

The LS7 lifter are now the stock replacement lifters. So from G.M you only have the LS7 and Caddy lifters to choose from. I'd stick with the factory MLS head gaskets, and it is always a good idea to have the heads milled a few thou just to ensure they are flat, Though this step is not necessary, just a good idea... Push rods should be fine as long as they are the correct length.

They do have to be replaced. Recommend ARP studs with the turbo but it's up to you. Good luck!

I wouldn't bother with studding a 150K mile motor... Throw a new set of stock head bolts and gaskets in there, mill the heads .005" go back together with new lifters and run another 100+K....

Have you tried a thicker oil? Hell, if the motor has 150k on it... try 20W-50 or a straight 30W.

No I haven't tried thicker oil yet. I running 10w-30 or 40 can't remember. I was told that these engines didn't like thicker oil?
