Default LS3 Cam in L94 engine

I am doing a CAM swap on the LS3 I have in my RX-7 so I will have a nice stock Low mile LS3 cam available to me. I need to replace the lifters in my 2010 Escalade Base L94 so I figured I would do an AFR DOD delete since it costs about the same to do and will eliminate DOD AFR problems in the future. So big question is there any issues with installing that LS3 cam in my L94 along with LS7 lifters, non-DOD valley tray, LS3 push rods, etc? Then getting a tune?

Depending on whether the LS3 camshaft is out of a wet sump versus dry sump it'll be a single bolt or 3 bolt, so factor that into the delete conversion. The LS3 cam might be free, but it'll give up a bunch of torque in an Escalade (lazy ramps, low lift, and ground retarded). Sell the LS3 to someone wanting one for a lighter vehicle.

An affordable option would be @Summitracing SUM-8728R1 212/218 110+4 .600/.585. It'll make much more power low/mid-range, yet still more up top compared to the LS3 camshaft. You'll need to change to .600 lift springs.

If you wanted to stay with factory LS3 springs, their SUM-8719R1 209/217 112+1 .550/.550 will work with them. Won't make quite the same peak as their 8728R1, but it'll still be a little stronger than the LS3, again with way more low-end.

Both of the Summit cams above will work with a stock convertor.

It's a wet sump single bolt.

But the loss of torque is the kind of info I was looking for! Thanks! So short answer is yes it will work but it would be a negative outcome.

Thanks for the cam suggestions!

@VenomSpeedShop,

We'll ditto what @68Formula suggested. Either Pro LS cam would work well in a daily Escalade with a 6.2. The L94 would also have VVT, which must be deleted if going with a 3-bolt cam such as our Pro LS cams.

- AFM/DOD Delete Kits
- VVT Delete Kits
