LS2 was only made as an aluminum block.

 

I do believe there was an article in gm hightech perf with a ls2 iron block motor. I don't think you can get them in a crate, but they can be built from a 6.0 truck block, with all the ls2 hardware. He has it for sale here also..

The LS2 by definition is aluminum. If there was an iron version it would start with L followed by something else. GM doesn't have an iron and aluminum version of an engine and give it the same RPO. That would just lead to mass confusion. Iron block=new configuration=new p/n=new code.
