Default ls2 cam

Whats up guys, Im new to the performance scene, but im trying to get more power from my trusty dd. I have a 99 gmc sierra z71 with a 5.3l, I have done some things to it like ported tb, electric fans, and a spectre intake. A buddy of mine is giving me an ls2 cam and he says it will improve my truck alot. My question is should I do it, my truck has 236,000 and what else will I need besides the cam? Also, what power gains should come from the install if I go ahead and complete it? Thanks for the help guys

If I'm not mistaken, you will need the LS2 timing cover also because the LS2 has the cam position sensor at the front, not the back. Will will also probably need stiffer valve springs and harder pushrods.

Don't listen to your buddy. That's nowhere near worth it.

Yep, you'll need the cover, cam sensor, and cam gear to make the LS2 work...by the time you're done buying that stuff you'll probably be close to the price of a nice aftermarket cam.
