LS1 in a Samurai, cam for mid to low end Qs
#23
The wheel base is going to be stretched from the stock 80 to about 95. The reason I am wasting my time with the 208 instead of getting an Atlas is because they are as high as giraffe *****, plus I really dont think I will have any issue with it. It is geared better than a 205, lighter, and worked in a 1987 Suburban with a diesel so I am sure it will be up to the 3200lbs Samurai. If I am wrong I will atleast be able to wheel it and then upgrade it.

From somone that has a 90 K5 Blazer with 1ton axles, 208TC, 44x19.50x16.5 Boggers and 15in Lift and a lil 400 SBC that will turn it on.
I would love to have a Sami with a LS1 sitting on some 38in. Boggers or Heck 35 and those things are beast.
My rig is down right now I broke my 208 TC trying to pull two fords out of a Hole at the same time. You wouldn't happen to know anyone with a 208 laying around would you??

If you look on Caos4x4.com there is one for sale now. I would consider selling mine but then I would have to buy an Atlas or Stak. Right now my biggest problem is getting the suspension built or finding someone that can and wants to

I had a lot of people say I should throw in a 4.3 because the LS1 wouldn't fit. So I started a, I want to trade my LS1 for your 4.3 thread in the for sale section. I did some research and found that the LS1 is lighter, obviously makes more power and is only 3 inches longer and 2 inches wider. The LS1 weighs 434 ready to drop in, the 4.3 with heads, intake, and carb without the acc weighs 425. A 4.3 ready to drop in would weigh closer to 475. The weight of the LS1 was with a flywheel, I have a flexplate. Power steering pump, I am running hydro. AC compressor, I won't have that and motor mounts I am running a motor plate. Plus that motor that was weighed had an adaptor to install it in a Porsche which I obviously wouldn't have. The weight of the LS1 should be closer to 400 I think. Besides that, who wouldn't love to have 400+ HP in a 3200/3300lbs offroad rig.
