See this is the type of info I need, so what would yall reccomend? Im going to post over in tech too see what they say.
Also 383 is a 3.905bore x 4 inch stroke, so how would 4.125 make a 404?

this is just for the sake of discussion for the time being, lookin for a nice stroker. 383 seems a little common anymore and 396 is what I would like.
Just figuring out how to get there.

Even though you said that the 6.0's go for too much around you, I'd still sorta look for them. If anything you could get one on here, get it shipped.. and still probably be cheaper than buying one around you.

I was going to go with a 370 route for my 6.0 but after I looked into a 396 that sounds really good.

I don't know about yall, but you can say you have whatever you want. I care more about how it runs. I would think a 6.0 block bored to a 370 would last longer than a 5.3 bored and stroked to a 396. For that matter get a 6.0 and stroke it and bore it to a 413. It is different and haas more cubes than a 396

if your trying to cheap out with the 5.3 build your gonna have about the same amount in the the machine work as you would the whole 6.0 complete motor then triple that with rods and pistons and the assembly of the stroker motor just get you a 6.0 and start from there.

go with a .04 over 6.0 =371ci
can reuse som of the stock parts, crank, rods,
if u use speed pro replacement pistons
and some 66cc heads like 241 found for cheep all over tech.
milled down a good .030
have scr around 10.25:1 with 230 duration cam for nice responsive motor
i would rather have bore than a few more ci
4.040 bore will use up the head alot more than 3.905

The 5.3 bored to 5.7 is not worth it the machine work alone cost me $550 your best bet would be to buy a 6.0 block with low miles get it honed , maged, and hot tanked, you will come out ahead with the 6.0 in the end.
